Why Do You Exist – Part 1

Why Do You Exist?

Part 1 – My Creation

Why am I on planet earth?  Down through the ages, man has been searching for the answer to this question: “Why do I exist?”  The average life span is 25,550 days, which is just short of 70 years.  Many live a long life and yet they never enter into the purpose of their creation.  Am I here by accident?  Was it some evolutionary process that is the source of my existence?  If I was created by a Creator, then wouldn’t the Creator have a reason for making me? To find the answer to these questions we must look into God’s Word.

As Bertrand Russell said, “Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.”

Matthew 19:4 says, “Haven’t you read, that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female…”  Jesus teaches from the Scriptures that there is a Creator and the crown of God’s creation is man.

SERMON NOTES:

  1. God created man with the capacity to know and relate to him.  In other words, you were born to know God.  Isaiah 44:2; Psalm 139:13-16; Genesis 1:27
  2. Love is at the very root of our creation.  You existed in God’s heart long before you were conceived in your mother’s womb.  Jeremiah 1:4-5
  3. When we search for our significance and purpose outside of God’s design, then we will draw conclusions based on our understanding which is futile.  Ephesians 4:17-19; Romans 1:20-21
  4. Suicide and abortion are the strategies of the devil to destroy the pleasure God receives from a person’s existence.  Revelation 4:11; Ephesians 1:4-5; Genesis 3
