Why Do you Exist – Part 2
Why Do You Exist?
Part 2 – My Crisis
Because of the cunning and beguiling Serpent, trouble came to Paradise
(Genesis 3). Adam and Eve, the parents of the human race, from which every
tongue, tribe and nation finds its roots – now found themselves separated
from God and living outside of the Garden they called home.
Paul says in Romans 5:12, “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through
one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all men, because
all sinned.”
The consequences brought each member of the human race into the greatest
crisis it will ever face: separation from God. For each of us there can be
a turning point – a moment where we pass from being spiritually dead to
alive in Christ. But, to go from being in Adam to being in Christ, there
must be an understanding of what this “crisis” really means and who alone
can get us out of it. The Scriptures describe the reality of our great
crisis.
SERMON NOTES:
Paul shares why the Lord Jesus was sending him to people who were in this
great crisis:
- Because they were spiritually blind. Acts 26:18; Luke 4:18
- Because they were dwelling in darkness. Acts 26:18; Matthew 4:16; Colossians 1:13-14
- Because they were under the power of Satan. Rebellion to God’s authority places us under the devil’s domain and power. Acts 26:18
- Because they were dead in their sins and needed forgiveness. Acts 26:18; Ephesians 2:1; Titus 3:3-6
Paul’s dialogue with King Agrippa ends with the king asking a question:
“Do you think in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?”
Acts 26:28
Paul’s answer: “Short time or long – I pray God that not only you but all
who are listening to me today may become what I am…” Acts 26:29
“The most difficult aspect of salvation is not getting man saved, but getting
him lost. After all, who needs to be saved who is not hopelessly lost? Total
depravity means that man cannot save himself and must look to another for
salvation.” -Pastor Bob Diffenbaugh
